Proceedings ForumAlpinum 2024: The Alps – a Refuge of Bio- and Geodiversity!?

ForumAlpinum is a scientific conference, organized by ISCAR in collaboration with national partners, aiming to promote international research cooperation on topics of relevance across the entire Alpine Arc. The 2024 edition in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, focused on biodiversity and geodiversity that are under severe threat – worldwide and especially in sensitive ecosystems like the Alps. Designed as an interface between the scientific community and policy, the ForumAlpinum 2024 took place back-to-back with the Alpine Biodiversity Conference of the Alpine Convention.

ForumAlpinum 2024 identified hotspots of bio- and geodiversity and examined their monitoring and management in the Alps. More than 40 contributions analysed land use conflicts and discussed the relevance of bio- and geodiversity protection to find possible solutions. All ForumAlpinum 2024 contributions are documented in the proceedings now available on the ISCAR Homepage. Each contribution also contains a paragraph on policy implications.

Call for posters for students, young and early-career researchers

This year, we invite students, young and early-career researchers from various scientific disciplines to present posters with their research findings relating and relevant to the Alps. Poster topics may relate to the conference theme 2024 of bio- and geodiversity, but contributions on other alpine topics are very welcome as well. More information in the call for posters. The call is open until May 10, 2024.
