Participation: Onsite participation conference. No fee is required for the participation. The registration will open in spring 2026.
Target audience: Open to all academics, sectoral operators, politics and public administrators, ForumAlpinum will give great importance to and encourage the participation of young academics (under 35 years).
Language: English.
For some institutional sessions, simultaneous interpretation from English into the main Alpine languages (Italian, German, French, Slovenian) might be provided.

Travel – how to get there: The ForumAlpinum 2026 will take place in the City of Aosta, Italy. The Aosta Valley is located at the north-western end of Italy, bordered by Piedmont Italian region to the south and east but also by France (reachable through the Mont Blanc tunnel and, in summer, also from the Little Saint Bernard pass) and by Switzerland (reachable through the Great Saint Bernard tunnel and, in summer, also from the Great Saint Bernard pass). - By train – Reaching ForumAlpinum 2026 by train is a lovely carefree alternative to avoid road traffic and pollution. The train station is normally directly connected without changes with the stations of Turin Porta Nuova and Turin Porta Susa with over 20 daily trips. Journey time is less than 120 minutes. Arriving by train from Milan is possible in about 180 minutes, with a train change at Chivasso station. Please, be aware that due to railway electrification and modernisation works, the rail transport service along the Ivrea-Aosta stretch is carried out by bus.
- By air – The most convenient airports are the airports of Turin Caselle (86 km), Milan Malpensa (159 km), Milan Linate (186 km) and Geneva (177 km). You can also purchase rail tickets from the main airports (Turin, Geneva, Milan, …) directly with thetrainline.com
- By bus – The local public transport companies offer daily coach services to/from Milan departing from, Aosta. The coaches also make intermediate stops in Valle d’Aosta and in Piedmont. It is advisable to book seats for the coach service to/from Milan. The Arriva company scheduled coach service to/from Turin (bus station in Corso Bolzano and Turin Porta Susa railway station, from which connections depart for Caselle airport) is operational on Fridays and Sundays. A bus line to/from Martigny (Switzerland) operates from the Aosta coach station. The local public transport companies offer weekly services to/from Chamonix (France) departing from Courmayeur (consult the web pages referred to below to find out about intermediate stops, fares and times of the services). - By car – The venue is reachable from Italy, Switzerland and France, taking the useful exit from the A5 Italian motorway.
If necessary, a shuttle service will be activated to and from the main airports/train stations and with the Aosta city main railway and buses stations.
Accommodation: A list of accommodation will be provided early 2026 for the City of Aosta. Participants are responsible for organizing their own accommodation and covering the associated costs.
Food: Lunch and dinner on ForumAlpinum conference day, 29 May, as well as lunch during the excursion on 30 May, will be offered free of charge to registered participants.
